General Tips for Students
1. Make your search as specific as possible.
2. Try using different search engines.
3. Make use of advanced search options.
4. Know what these terms mean: stop words (common words that search engines offen leave out of searches (e.g.,the, a, to); sponsored links (these are paid for by advertisers and meant to come up when a keyword in the search matches an advertiser's keyword. They can appear near anywhere on the page); cached pages (older versions of a page stored by the search engine; a back-up copy)
5. Use Boolean logic to conduct the most effective searches.
